How to Apply for Dubai Visa

An individual can apply for a Dubai visa through online or offline methods:

Apply for a Dubai Visa Online

  1. Visit the official UAE government visa website or an authorized visa service provider's website.
  2. Select the type of visa you wish to apply for (tourist, transit, etc.).
  3. Fill out the visa application form with personal details, travel information, and required documents (passport copy, photo, etc.).
  4. Upload the necessary documents and pay the visa fee online.
  5. Submit the application and wait for approval.
  6. Once approved, the visa will be sent via email or can be downloaded from the website.

  1. Visit the nearest UAE embassy or consulate in your country.
  2. Collect the visa application form and fill it out with accurate details.
  3. Submit the completed form along with the required documents (passport, photo, financial records, etc.) and pay the visa fee.
  4. The embassy or consulate will process your application and inform you when the visa is ready for collection.

Eligibility Criteria for Dubai Visa

To be eligible for any of the visas offered by the authorities, the applicant needs to fulfil any one of the below mentioned criteria:

  1. Travel History: If the applicant has traveled to countries like the USA, UK, Schengen countries, Canada, etc., in the last five years or has a valid visa for these countries, they can apply. Travel records to the UAE also count.
  1. Financial Records: Applicants who don’t meet the travel history criteria need to provide proof of income (e.g., Form 16 or Income Tax Return for the last two years), showing a minimum annual income of Rs.2 lakh. They may also provide fixed deposit documents of at least Rs.5 lakh.
  1. Family Invitation: A spouse, children under 21, or parents over 60 can be invited by an immediate family member living in the UAE.
  1. Newly Married Couples: If the spouse's name isn’t on the passport, they must submit a marriage certificate, wedding photo, affidavit, and NOC from parents.

Documents Required for Dubai Visa (Indians)

The following documents are needed to apply for a Dubai visa: 

  1. Valid Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel and include clear copies of the bio and last pages.
  2. Recent Photograph: A colored, passport-size photo with a plain white background.
  3. Flight Itinerary: Confirmed round-trip flight tickets as proof of travel plans.
  4. Accommodation Details: Proof of hotel reservations or an invitation letter from a host residing in Dubai.
  5. Completed Visa Form: Properly filled and signed visa application form.
  6. Financial Proof: Recent bank statements showing sufficient funds to cover the trip (if required).
  7. Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance covering the duration of your stay, including COVID-19-related expenses (for certain visa types).
  8. Travel ticket requirement: You must have a travel ticket that shows your next destination. If you are travelling on a transit visa, your departure from Dubai must be within 96 hours of arrival. 
  9. Additional Documents: Previous UAE visa copies, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer or institution, or a personal cover letter explaining the purpose of travel (if applicable).

How to Check Dubai Visa Status

Once the visa application is submitted, applicants can check the status of the application. This can be done by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: First, the applicant needs to visit https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/are/

Step 2: Thereafter, he/she needs to click on 'Track Your Application'.

Step 3: In the corresponding page, the reference number and the passport expiry date needs to be provided.

Step 4: Once the details are entered, the 'Submit' button needs to be clicked.

    If a Dubai visa application is rejected, the visa fee is not refundable under any circumstances. The fees paid for the visa are non-refundable.

  • How many days prior to the date of travel can an individual apply for the visa?

    It varies depending on the visa that is being applied for. While sometimes the visa needs to be applied 30 days in advance, in certain cases it needs to be applied 2 months prior to the date of travel.

  • Is the visa fees the same for both infants and adults?

    Yes, the visa fees are the same for both infants and adults.

  • After the visa is availed, can it be used to enter and exit the country from any airport in the country?

    A visa does not guarantee entry into UAE. Immigration officials can deny you entry if they find you to be a threat to the country or for any other reason. The final decision is taken by them.

  • My visa application fee includes a security deposit. Will this be refunded?

    Yes, the security deposit amount will be refunded when you leave the country. This fee is applicable to applicants from certain countries only.

  • How long will it take for me to get the security deposit refund?

    Upon receipt of exit evidence, the total fee should be returned within four working days. The refund will appear on the account for the next month if the amount was paid with a credit card. 

  • My passport expires in two months and I need to travel to UAE for 30 days. Am I eligible for a visa?

    No, to be eligible for a visa, your passport should be valid for at least six months. In this case you will have to renew the passport before applying for a visa.
