News about Canada Visa

Canada tightens entry requirements and eliminates automatic 10-year tourist visas

Canada’s recent update to its tourist visa policy now enables immigration officers to determine visa duration on a case-by-case basis, ending the routine issuance of 10-year multiple-entry visas.

Announced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this change is part of an effort to manage immigration levels and address housing and living costs.

Previously, all tourist visa applicants were eligible for multiple-entry visas, allowing multiple entries for up to 10 years, while single-entry visas were reserved for specific cases.

Now, officers will assess each applicant individually, issuing either single- or multiple-entry visas with flexible validity based on the traveler’s situation. Although the application fee remains CAD 100 for either type, frequent travelers may face increased costs due to shorter visa terms.
