Depot owners contesting the Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana; Punjab wants to include them in doorstep delivery

After making certain revisions to the scheme that had previously been placed on hold after being contested in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Aam Aadmi Party government is planning to reintroduce the Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana. The government now intends to include owners of fair price depots in the scheme and require them to distribute rations.

The government's decision to replace the fair price shops with newly designated distribution delivery agencies and deliver rations to doorsteps was previously contested by the state's depot holders' welfare group.

In accordance with the National Food Security Act of 2013, the state administration was asked by the high court to hand out the supply through depot holders. Additionally, it was asserted that only fair price businesses could provide necessities in accordance with periodic directives from the federal and state governments.
