How is Road Tax Calculated in Delhi?

Road tax is calculated based on several factors such as:

  4. Seating capacity,

    Penalty for Non-payment of Road Tax in Delhi 

    All registered vehicle owners in Delhi are required to pay a one-time road tax. According to Section 11 of the Delhi Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1962, failure to do so within the stipulated time can result in heavy penalties and fines.

    Defaulters may be penalized with a percentage of their vehicle's value in addition to the original road tax amount. Fortunately, overdue taxes can be settled conveniently through online payment options.

    It's important to note that individuals driving vehicles from another state to Delhi who have already paid road tax in their home state's RTO are exempt from additional road tax for up to 90 days.
