Order Aadhaar Reprint is a pilot-based service that was introduced on 1 December 2018. If you have misplaced or lost your Aadhaar card or would like a new copy of your card, you can make use of this service.
You can request for a copy of your Aadhaar card using your registered mobile number. However, if you have not registered your mobile number for Aadhaar, then you can place a request using an alternate/non-registered mobile number.
Please note that this is a paid service and charges Rs.50 (including GST and postal charges) per request.
To order a reprint of your Aadhaar card, you will need your Aadhaar number or your Virtual Identification Number (VID). VID is a 16-digit temporary, random number mapped with your Aadhaar number.
If you want to generate or retrieve your VID, visit 'https://resident.uidai.gov.in/vid-generation.'
Here are the steps to place a request for the reprint of your Aadhaar card:
Step 1 - Visit the https://resident.uidai.gov.in/order-reprint on the UIDAI website to place your request.
Step 2 - Enter your 16-digit VID or 12-digit Aadhaar number.
Step 3 - Enter the security code displayed in the box.
Step 4 - If you have not registered your mobile number, then check the box that says, "My mobile number is not registered". You'll get an option to enter a non-registered mobile number.* Otherwise, enter your registered mobile number and proceed to the next step.
Step 5 - You can request for an OTP or enter a TOTP. Click on 'Send OTP' or 'Enter TOTP.'
Step 6 - Enter your 6-digit OTP sent to a registered/alternate mobile number or your 8-digit TOTP.
Step 7 - Check the box that says, 'Terms and Conditions' and click on 'Submit.'
Step 8 - If you have used your registered mobile number, you will get a preview of your Aadhaar details.
Step 9 - Click on 'Make Payment.' You will be taken to the payment gateway page where you have to make the payment of Rs.50.
Step 10 - Click on 'Pay Now' to complete your transaction.
*Time-Based-One-Time-Password to be requested only through the m-Aadhaar application.
** If you use a non-registered mobile number, you will not get a preview of your Aadhaar details.
Once you have made the payment, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt containing the digital signature. This is available in PDF format for download. Additionally, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) through a text message/SMS.
You can use the SRN you received through SMS to track the status of your Aadhaar letter until it is dispatched.
Once your letter gets dispatched, you will receive an Airway Bill Number (AWB) that you can use to further track its delivery status through the DoP website (India Speed Post/SPEED POST Service of Department of Post).
You can use a Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI to make the payment for the reprint of your Aadhaar card.
A Service Request Number or SRN is a 28-digit number that is generated on the UIDAI website every time a request for Order Aadhaar Reprint has been raised. This number will be generated even if the payment for this service fails.
Once UIDAI receives your request for the reprint, it will send across your Aadhaar letter to the DoP website (India Speed Post/SPEED POST Service of Department of Post) in 5 business days after the request date. Your Aadhaar letter will be delivered as per the delivery norms of DoP. However, you will receive an AWB (number) that you can use to track your delivery status.
If you wish your letter to be delivered to a different address, you will first have to update this new address with UIDAI. You can update your new address online through the Self Service Update Portal or by visiting your nearest Enrolment/Update Centre.
