Shab-e- Qadr, also known as Laylat al-Qadr, commemorates the day that the verses of the Quran were first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is considered to be one of the holiest nights of the Islamic faith.

To commemorate the day, Muslims recite the verses from the Quran the entire night. It is though that the blessings of the Almighty abound during this night. Special prayers, or ''dua'', is also offered on this night to Allah.

Religious scholars and preachers hold talks on the Quran, its verses, as well as the life of the Prophet to inspire Muslims to follow on the path of righteousness and faith.

The importance of Shab-e-Qadr goes beyond its abstract spiritual connotation. For Muslims, this night holds more sanctity than a thousand months; the belief is that worship of Allah on this night is holier than worshipping Him for a thousand months. 

The importance of Shab-e-Qadr is in the practices and upholding of the same by Muslims during the night. Many will spend the whole night praying and reciting the Quran. Some will also do charity such as feeding the poor and helping the needy.  

Reality of Shab-e-Qadr

The reality of Shab-e-Qadr is that it is very much related to Islamic belief and tradition; it is one of the most important and blessed nights in a Muslim's calendar.  

The Quranic beliefs are that the night of Qadr is special and has a promise of blessings from Allah upon those who plead His forgiveness and invoke His guidance.
